The kindness of strangers

I read an interesting news story out of Montana this week.  It seems a man that has been hitchhiking around the country working on a photographic memoir about the kindness of strangers.   In a shameless act of self-promotion he shot himself in the upper arm.  He then flagged down a lady and her daughter for help, claiming a random guy in a pickup just pulled up and shot him for no apparent reason.

Here is where the story takes a turn.  Police find and arrest a man fitting the description given by the photographer.  The man was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, but claimed his innocence.  The police detective really believed him, but he did fit the description.  The photographer did eventually confess and the charges were dropped against the other guy, but he was held on charges of DUI.

I wonder and hope that the pickup driver uses this as a huge wakeup call.  This could have turned out a whole lot different than it did.  God was giving him a nudge, sure hope he is smart enough to follow it.
